A leading international supplier of high-quality products for the automotive industry is seeking an experienced Interim Plant Manager for their facility in northern Mexico. 

The company is committed to delivering excellence in manufacturing and quality assurance and is looking for a reliable leader to assess and manage the current situation at the plant. There have been concerns regarding irregularities in operations, and the current plant manager is under review. This is a critical role, with the potential for restructuring, plant closure, merger, or relocation, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Responsibilities:

  • Take immediate leadership of a plant with approximately 80 employees and ensure stability during a period of uncertainty
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the plant’s operations to determine the root cause of issues, particularly in areas such as shipping, communication, and plant management
  • Provide clear and trustworthy reports to the headquarters regarding operational integrity and any identified irregularities
  • Develop recommendations for the future of the plant, including potential closure, restructuring, merging with another facility, or continued operations with adjustments
  • Collaborate with attorneys and external auditors to ensure all legal and financial reviews are conducted properly
  • Engage with staff to rebuild trust and open lines of communication between the plant and headquarters
  • Manage day-to-day operations while balancing the longer-term strategic decision-making required for the plant’s future
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and address any ongoing concerns related to past incidents, including a recent fire at one of the company’s buildings

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Interim Plant Manager or in a similar leadership role within the automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire an 80-person workforce under challenging circumstances
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, from plant employees to executives at headquarters
  • A strong background in evaluating and making recommendations for complex plant decisions, such as closures, mergers, restructuring, or relocations
  • Hands-on experience managing operational crises and resolving trust issues within an organization
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in northern Mexico for the duration of the assignment.Expertise in operational excellence, logistics, and supply chain management, particularly in high-pressure environments

  • Duration: Initial contract of six months, with potential for extension depending on project outcomes

  • Languages: English and Spanish (Company language)
  • Work Arrangement: On-site presence required
